Initiate Messages

An Initiate Message is the message or question that displays when you initiate a chat with a visitor. These messages are pre-configured and can be selected from a drop-down when you initiate a conversation.

Accessing The Page To Manage Initiate Messages

  • To manage initiate messages when you are logged into the Operator Home Pages click on the "Initiate Messages" link in the top menu:

  • To manage initiate messages when you are logged into the Chat Request Monitor click on the "Initiate" option beside any visitor:

    Next, click on "Create" to be taken to the page on the Operator Home Pages to create a new initiate message

Creating A New Initiate Message

Creating a new initiate message
  1. Assign a Reference. The reference should give you an indication about what the initiate message is. It is the reference that you will see in the drop-down when you select which initiate message you would like to see. Make this value unique and memorable for yourself for each initiate message you set up.

  2. Type in the Message. This message is the first thing the visitor will see from you once the chat has been initiated. Make a comment or ask a question but remember to be polite.

  3. Click on the "Submit" button to save the initiate message. Once saved, it will appear in the list of configured initiate messages on that page.

Editing An Existing Initiate Message

  1. Click on the "Edit" link beside the initiate message you would like to edit.

  3. The reference and message from the existing initiate message will populate in the text boxes. Make any desired changes and click the "Submit" button. Any changes made will edit the chosen initiate message, it will not create a new one.

  1. Click on the "Delete" link beside the initiate message you would like to delete.

  3. Click "OK" to confirm the deletion of the initiate message or click "Cancel" to cancel the operation.

Using Initiate Messages

  1. From the Traffic Monitor on the Chat Request Monitor click on the "initiate" link beside any visitor to initiate a conversation with that visitor

  2. Initiate a chat

  3. You will then be taken to the initiate chat with user screen. Select which pre-configured initiate message you would like to use from the drop-down list beside the word "Question".

  4. Initiate a chat

  5. If you have added a new initiate message and do not see it appearing in the list, click on the "reload" link to refresh the drop-down list.

  6. Click on the "Click to initiate chat with visitor" button to initiate a chat with the chosen initiate message.
